What does a Meter Technician do?
Follow one of our Meter Technicians through a typical week and get a real insight into the role, the team and what it’s like to build a career at NPS.
Depending on the program you’re supporting, your day may include:
- Replacing and installing water meters
- Working with smart metering technology
- Inspecting and investigating water assets
- Managing your daily schedule and workload
- Identifying and managing site risks
- Recording information through mobile systems
- Representing NPS and our clients in the community

Learning the role properly

We don’t hand over the keys and send people into the field.
Our Meter Tech Training Academy combines structured learning, practical experience and supervised field work to build confidence, capability and consistency.
Before working independently, you’ll have the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and practical experience needed to perform the role safely and effectively.
